New Residential Growth and Major Development in the Truro Region

One of the most talked-about development trends within the broader Truro and Colchester region involves large-scale residential growth — not just within the town but extending into neighbouring communities. One major example, just outside of Truro proper in nearby Bible Hill, is a large mixed-use project planning up to 2,300–2,500 new residential units over time, with the first phase slated for around 225 homes.

While this project is in the early stages and falls under the Municipality of Colchester — not Truro itself — it’s a sign of how demand for housing in the region is driving developers toward ambitious plans that aim to provide a mix of housing types, commercial space, and community amenities.

Closer to town, the Town of Truro’s development application process has seen proposals like a 323-unit residential community through the development agreement process, which includes multi-storey buildings and townhouses.

Developments of this scale signal both increasing housing supply and shifts in how communities in and around Truro are envisioned for future growth.
